Welcome! I wanted to create a place where people could go to get inspired when life doesn't quite turn out as planned. The name is a little misleading because (spoiler alert) this blog has nothing to do with Rome! Rather, Getting to Rome is a phrase that I felt so well captures the journey along life's pathway towards wherever we think we're headed.

One of my favorite sayings is "all roads lead to Rome". I believe it's such a great life mantra. When you pick a path whether it's a college, a career or even a husband you embark on that path with excitement, gusto, optimism and full faith that you've chosen a route that will fulfill a goal or lead you to your ultimate destination. Usually that destination is happiness, money or some version of hedonistic bliss that surely awaits you once your winding road finally drops you off.  BUT... sometimes life requires you to choose a new path.  Meander in a different direction. Choose plan B. or C. (or D). Sometimes the end of the road you chose is even a dead-end.

Some might call the first path a failure because it ultimately didn't lead to the stop you intended. But those people aren't welcome here! "Failures" can sometimes lead to life's greatest blessings. I mean can you imagine telling your kid his "oops" little sister was a failure?!  She might not have been planned but she brought your family life, joy and immeasurable value. That job you took when the one you really wanted didn't come through might lead to a more fulfilling career path than you ever could have imagined.

Whatever "Rome" represents for you and no matter how many pit stops or wrong turns you've taken along the way, getting there is the real utopia. The stumbles and falls along the way teach us that while we might not be taking the most direct path, the one we're on is much more enriching. I'll be posting content from trend-setters, career rebels, relationship experts and more from these insightful trailblazers who found their destination through the road less traveled. I hope you'll feel encouraged and inspired by learning from these kindred spirits and more confident in the path you're creating. Cheers to taking this journey together and ultimately... eventually... getting to Rome.
